Founding Partner: Nat'l Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition

The National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB) is programmatic host of text4baby, and provides program coordination along with co-founding partner, Voxiva. As an established leader in maternal and child health, HMHB’s expertise was particularly helpful in the development of scientifically accurate and relevant content for the text4baby messages designed to help pregnant women and new moms.  By harnessing the power of the coalition model, HMHB has successfully engaged hundreds of organizations at the national, state, and local levels to drive enrollment in the text4baby program.  These partners around the country receive technical assistance, regular communication, and free promotional materials to support customized outreach strategies.

About HMHB

HMHB was founded in 1981, prompted by the US Surgeon General’s conference on infant mortality. Six lead organizations established the informal coalition to improve the quality and reach of public and professional education related to prenatal and infant care: The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the March of Dimes, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses Association (AWHONN), the National Congress of Parents and Teachers and the US Public Health Service.

 

The National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB) is a recognized leader and resource in maternal and child health, reaching an estimated 10 million health care professionals, parents, and policymakers through its membership of over local, state and national organizations.

 

Enhanced by a network of Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies state and local coalitions, HMHB creates partnerships among community groups, nonprofits, professional associations, businesses and government agencies. HMHB’s mission is to improve the health and safety of mothers, babies and families through educational materials and collaborative partnerships.
