3/31/2015 - Too Small to Fail in Tulsa

Earlier this month, partners in Tulsa, Oklahoma gathered to launch a city-wide Text4baby campaign as part of Too Small to Fail's Talking is Teaching campaign. The George Kaiser Family Foundation hosted a kick-off meeting that included representatives from a variety of agencies and community-based organizations in the Tulsa area. As part of Text4baby's partnership with Too Small to Fail, customized messages will be sent to parents aimed at closing the word gap in Tulsa. Messages will be geared toward encouraging caregivers to access local resources that support mothers in talking, reading and singing to their babies. Partners discussed a variety of resources that could be sent to parents as part of this effort and also brainstormed ways to get Text4baby promotion integrated into programs that serve pregnant women and parents of children under one. 8/12/2014 - Mercy Medical Center

Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland has been a Text4baby partner for almost a year and has brought more women to Text4baby through promotion of the service to staff and moms. Text4baby materials are distributed in inpatient and outpatient units that serve pregnant women and moms, including labor and delivery, postpartum mother/baby unit and outpatient advanced fetal care and lab offices. Mercy websites for pregnant women and families now feature the Text4baby enrollment button. Key staff also attend meetings armed with professional information about the service as a resource, and routinely share information with obstetric clinics and other community partners. 4/15/2014 - Riverside County

Riverside County Health System, Riverside WIC, Riverside County Board of Supervisors, Riverside First 5, and Council of Community Clinics held a media event on April 3rd to formally announce their partnership with Text4baby. This partnership will make it easier for parents to learn about Text4baby and to sign up through existing programs such as WIC, First 5 Riverside, the Riverside County Regional Medical Center women’s health and pediatric services, and Riverside County Health System’s 10 outpatient family health centers. Speakers included Vice-Chairman Marion Ashley, Riverside County Board of Supervisors, District 5; Carrie Bacon, M.D., Assistant Chief of Family Medicine, Riverside County Health System; Gayle Hoxter, Nutrition Services and Health Promotion Branch Chief, Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program; and Roxanna, a Text4baby mom. Representatives from the media and Riverside County Text4baby moms attended the event to hear about the benefits of the service. Great work, Riverside County!

12/10/2013 - First 5 Lake County

First 5 Lake County in California is promoting Text4baby to new moms. First 5 Lake County aims to share a range of health information with new moms during mom support groups hosted by Mother-Wise, a First 5 Lake County supported program. The groups meet twice a week in two different locations for moms experiencing postpartum depression or who just want some support. Text4baby materials are shared during these sessions and First 5 employees help women sign up. They also have a link to www.text4baby.org on their website as well as post a "Message of the Week" which mom’s find very helpful. Thanks for the outstanding work, First 5 Lake County!

12/3/2013 - La Maestra Community Health Center

La Maestra Community Health Center, located in San Diego, Calif., has ramped up efforts to increase enrollment in Text4baby through online and local promotion. La Maestra successfully enrolled 123 new moms through the Text4baby web enrollment button on their website. They also hosted an ice cream social for expecting and new moms, and displayed Text4baby materials in their health promotion center, in orientation packets, and at educational baby showers and health fairs. La Maestra also shared Text4baby information to their OB providers who provided great feedback of the service and encouraged patients to sign up. Thanks La Maestra for all of your effort!

11/19/2013 - Mercy Hospital, Baltimore

Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, Md., has recently become a Text4baby partner and is promoting the service through various departments. In the emergency room, staff distributes Text4baby tear sheets in packets given out to pregnant women who are admitted. The Director of Obstetrics is sharing Text4baby information in resource packets provided to all pregnant patients and delivering mothers. Additionally, Text4baby was featured in their employee newsletter. Thank you Mercy Hospital for bringing this critical service to moms.

10/29/2013 - Family First

Family First, a project of San Antonio's Alpha Home, is a pregnancy and postpartum intervention program (PPI) in San Antonio, Texas, aiming to reduce the number of children and families whose lives are affected by the use of alcohol, other drugs and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. The program enrolls 98% of the hundreds of pregnant women, parenting women, new mothers, and area partners who attend their educational sessions, and they actively track their organization’s text4baby enrollment through the web portal. Since 2012, Family First has enrolled over 280 women through their quarterly newsleter, outreach flyers and more. Keep up the great work Family First!

10/8/2013 - League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and Los Angeles-area Partners

California partners helped moms enroll in text4baby at the League of United Latin American Citizen’s (LULAC) Feria de Salud event in Los Angeles. The Feria de Salud (Health Fair) brought together thousands of Latino moms, community members, health professionals, and community leaders to celebrate Latino heritage and enjoy Latin music, healthy Mexican-American cuisine and learn about a variety of programs available in Los Angeles, including text4baby. Text4baby information was available to the thousands of attendees, and many expecting and new moms signed up at the event resulting in a 200% increase in enrollment. Text4baby also presented at LULAC’s Latinos Living Healthy webinar, explaining text4baby’s benefits and how health professionals and navigators can help moms enroll when discussing their health care options. 9/24/2013 - Dallas Healthy Start

Dallas Healthy Start, a program of Parkland Health & Hospital System’s Division of Women and Infants’ Specialty Health (WISH), has been promoting text4baby and helping pregnant women and new moms enroll in the service through numerous community events. They hosted the 6th Annual Infant Mortality Summit, where text4baby promotional materials and enrollment information was shared with over 50 summit attendees. In addition to the summit, Dallas Healthy Start hosted two community events to educate pregnant women and new moms about car seat safety and offering a free crib to one lucky mom. These events were focused on distributing health resources, including text4baby, and providing information to the many families in attendance. Thank you Dallas Healthy Start for promoting text4baby during Infant Mortality Awareness Month.

9/17/2013 - Solano County, CA Partners

Solano County, CA has been promoting text4baby and supporting breastfeeding awareness through community outreach. During World Breastfeeding Week in August, the Solano County Board of Supervisors urged parents, medical providers, employers and other relevant partners to support and encourage breastfeeding and text4baby’s supportive messages. Through First 5 Fresno’s Breastfeeding Friendly Express van, moms breastfeed or change diapers in privacy and comfort, and the Solano Breastfeeding Coalition and First 5 Fresno engage Lactation consultants, Public Health Nurses and other volunteers in enrolling moms in text4baby. Hundreds of families stopped by the van during the Solano County Fair. Other Solano partners, BabyFirst Solano, Solano WIC agencies, and the Baby Coach and Nurse Family Partnership Program post text4baby information in waiting rooms and clinics, and hand out text4baby enrollment information to expecting and new moms. Keep up the great work Solano County!

8/27/2013 - Miami-Healthy Start Coalition

Our wonderful partners from the Miami-Healthy Start Coalition (MHSC) have been promoting text4baby at expos and festivals and leading other outreach activities for moms in Miami. They recently participated in the Children’s Trust Family Expo. This is the seventh annual, FREE, all-day festival which provides parents with direct access to education about health and social services, including text4baby. The MHSC shared information about text4baby with hundreds of individuals. This initiative, along with other consumer outreach including social media and conference participation has increased awareness in text4baby. This week alone over 50 individuals signed up for the service. Way to go Miami!

7/23/2013 - First 5 Mendocino

FIRST 5 Mendocino in California launched a new text4baby effort to reach Spanish-speaking moms. The outreach strategy includes distributing co-branded materials to family resource centers, community spaces, churches and stores, and advertising text4baby through a billboard in the county. Previously, First 5 Mendocino distributed text4baby materials solely to social services, obstetricians and through First 5 Mendocino's Kit for New Parents. They are also tracking text4baby enrollment through the web portal, and are looking forward to learning which promotional activities are most effective for this population. Thanks First 5 Mendocino for all of your efforts!

7/2/2013 - San Diego and Imperial County Clinics

San Diego County and Imperial County clinics are gearing up for a local text4baby enrollment contest. The San Diego text4baby partners will reward the clinic with the highest online enrollment at the end of the summer with a staff-appreciation ice cream social. To compete, clinics will sign-up moms through their websites and hand out promotional materials to help moms enroll at health fairs and baby showers. La Maestra, WIC, American Red Cross San Diego, Mountain Health & Community Services and Clinicas de Salud del Pueblo in Imperial County all have the web button in place for summer enrollment.

6/25/2013 - San Diego Summer Lunch Program

San Diego partners are working with the San Diego Unified School District, Feeding America, and the University of California San Diego Network for a Healthy California to actively promote San Diego's Summer Lunch program to text4baby moms this summer. Text4baby moms in San Diego will learn about the summer food program through a special targeted text message directing them to their nearest summer lunch location. The program will also promote text4baby to new moms through the 65 lunch sites across the county. During the summer lunch kickoff last week, over 2,500 individuals learned about text4baby and the event was featured in local news reports.

6/4/2013 - Neighborhood WIC

Neighborhood WIC, a program of Public Health Solutions in New York City, promotes text4baby in each of their 10 WIC centers. This June, breastfeeding peer counselors will help participants enroll in text4baby directly in the waiting room and show moms how to utilize appointment reminders. Neighborhood WIC also posts framed text4baby promotional flyers in each nutritionist’s office and throughout waiting rooms; has staff wear pins that say “Ask me about text4baby!”; displays promotional flyers on digital screens in each of the centers; utilizes social media to promote tex4baby activities; and reaches out to press and local congressional leaders about text4baby. Thanks Neighborhood WIC for all that you do!

6/4/2013 - Tarrant County Infant Mortaliy Network

The Tarrant County Infant Mortality Network promotes text4baby through their annual conference and online resources. At their 2012 Infant Mortality Summit, they highlighted text4baby and shared a new infographic that summarizes the best-practices presented during the 2012 Summit, including the Healthy Texas Babies initiative. This infographic will be mailed to over 120 partners throughout the state of Texas and shared on social media channels. The Infant Mortality Network also features text4baby web buttons on their website, mentions the service as a positive resource for pregnant women and new moms and includes text4baby information as a part of their Babies Want to Live Awareness Campaign. 4/30/2013- San Diego County Partners

San Diego text4baby partners, the Alliance Healthcare Foundation, Council of Community Clinics, First Five San Diego and San Diego County leaders held a media event announcing new partnerships with text4baby and launching a California state-wide text4baby immunization reminder service at a media event on April 29. Speakers included:

Representatives from the media, Cricket Wireless, and San Diego County residents attended the event to hear about the benefits of text4baby and the immunization reminder service. San Diego is a leader in institutionalizing text4baby into existing county services by including information in the San Diego County New Parent Kits, adding text4baby in the Council of Community Clinics’ perinatal services, and 2-1-1 San Diego is actively enrolling moms in text4baby. 4/16/2013- The Council of Community Clinics

The Council of Community Clinics (CCC) is working with clinics across San Diego to actively reach and enroll Medi-cal (Medicaid program in California) eligible pregnant women and new moms in text4baby. The CCC has developed a survey to assess the staff’s knowledge about text4baby and educate them about the service. Clinics are adding the text4baby web enrollment button to their websites, and staff members are reminding text4baby moms about the appointment reminder service.

4/9/2013- United Way for Greater Austin

United Way for Greater Austin (UWATX) has increased text4baby enrollment in Travis County, Texas by highlighting text4baby at community health and education fairs, such as Feria Para Aprender in January—which drew over 10,000 parents and children from across Austin. Additionally, text4baby orientations are regularly given to mothers in individual and group sessions at 13 area WIC clinics. “Text4baby is such a great service for our WIC mothers, providing them extra support and information in between their WIC appointments,” said Donna Sundstrom, a WIC clinic representative at UWATX. “We are also promoting the appointment reminder feature to help them remember their WIC appointment to ensure they receive all their WIC benefits without a lapse in service.” Keep up the great work, UWATX!

4/2/2013- Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque

The Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque, the newest text4baby partner in New Mexico, is working to increase awareness and involvement throughout the state. The members recently attended the New Mexico Association for the Education of Young Children (NMAEYC) Conference to introduce text4baby to other organizations that reach pregnant and new moms. They are also engaging with health groups throughout the state to reach those who may not be able to afford prenatal care, and working to reach fathers and other caregivers through workshops and conferences. “The Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque is committed to spreading the word to make text4baby available to anyone who is getting ready to be a parent. We are particularly interested in encouraging fathers-to-be to enroll,” said Dave Orner, President of the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque.

11/06/2012- Mendocino County, California partners

Partners in Mendocino County, California have launched new efforts to promote text4baby. FIRST 5 Mendocino and Mendocino County Health and Human Services Agency have been actively promoting text4baby through a variety of activities this fall, including through community outreach events, direct service providers, and online channels. In early October, partners set up a text4baby booth at the Ukiah Valley Medical Center's Children's Health Fair, the biggest and most well-attended health fair in the county. They distributed text4baby promotional materials, and had a children's activity to attract families. Partners also presented the program to health professionals to encourage their support and promotion to their patients. From November through January, partners are asking prenatal health care providers to take a pledge of wearing a text4baby pin for three months as a reminder to talk to their patients and get them signed up. FIRST 5 Mendocino has also added a text4baby webpage that includes information and the web enrollment button, which facilitates enrollment online.

1/18/11 – The Health Care Coalition of Southern Oregon

The Health Care Coalition of Southern Oregon (HCCSO) is a Healthy Start project comprised of three local health departments and three federally qualified health centers. HCCSO is spreading the word about text4baby through their case managers who work with moms through their pregnancy and baby's first and second years. They had a front page article in their local newspaper spotlighting one of their pregnant client's experience with text4baby. “Delivering information to young moms — and dads — via mobile phones makes sense,” said Lillian Koppelman, executive director of the Health Care Coalition of Southern Oregon. “People in this age group — young women of reproductive age — are texters. This is how they get their information."

12/28/10 – The Four Corners Health Department

The Four Corners Health Department in York, Nebraska was featured in a front page story in their local paper, the York News-Times. The article highlighted the Health Department's text4baby promotional efforts including providing materials to their local hospitals and distributing program information to their clients. Four Corners Community Health Educator Chris Blanke said, "Since a high percentage of women of childbearing age have cell phones, this is a great outreach program. It's a great, great concept. It's very creative." Learn more about their efforts.

6/29/2010 & 12/16/10- Cleveland MomsFirst Program

Text4baby Outreach Partner Cleveland MomsFirst (a program of the Cleveland Department of Public Health) had the airwaves buzzing with text4baby, as text4baby PSAs had 137 airings on four local Radio One stations! The PSAs also aired online more than 300 times at www.zhiphopcleveland.com, www.wzakcleveland.com, www.newstalkcleveland.com, and www.praisecleveland.com. In addition to the PSAs, MomsFirst has been promoting text4baby out in the community during management meetings, health fairs, and consortium activities. Callers dialing their referral line are told about text4baby as a resource, and text4baby posters will be displayed both at the Department of Health and at local partner organizations in the upcoming weeks.

The Cleveland Department of Public Health's (CDPH) MomsFirst program held a community event for pregnant and news moms and invited text4baby to participate! The event featured free giveaways and informational sessions by professionals on topics like safe sleep and breastfeeding. Over 200 women attended the event and many signed up for text4baby on the spot. In addition, Lauren Sogor, text4baby Partner Relations Manager, joined CDPH in a meeting with Cleveland mayor, Frank Jackson, to discuss the value of text4baby for women in northeast Ohio. 10/26/2010-SEK Multi County Health Department of Anderson County

On October 20th, text4baby partner, SEK Multi County Health Department of Anderson County and the Garnett Public Library (Garnett, KS) hosted a Healthy Beginnings baby shower at the Garnett Public Library for all local pregnant and new moms of infants up to one year old. During the shower, staff talked to moms about text4baby, WIC/breastfeeding, immunizations and other important topics. The library offered the first 30 moms a free board book, and local partners, including the Anderson County Hospital, Country Mart, Unicare and Dairy Queen, donated baby items and food for the event.

10/5/2010- San Diego Text4baby Coalition

The San Diego Text4baby Coalition, led by the San Diego Medical Society Foundation and Alliance Healthcare Foundation and supported by more than 50 local organizations, officially launched text4baby in their community on September 14 at a press event. The press conference featured key government speakers including the County Public Health Officer, as well as Jesse Lozano, a local radio personality and father. 09/28/2010- Smart Beginnings of Martinsville-Henry County

Smart Beginnings of Martinsville-Henry County in Martinsville, Virginia caught drivers’ attention this summer by placing six text4baby billboards in areas with high traffic. Billboards were placed by Patrick Henry Community College, Memorial Hospital, and the Department of Social Service, as well as main highways heading to Danville, VA, Roanoke, VA, and Greensboro, NC.

08/10/2010- First 5 Solano

If you live in the Solano County, CA area, be sure to visit your local Westfield mall! Text4baby Outreach Partner First 5 Solano worked with the local mall to display text4baby posters (customized with their logo and local contact information) in kiosks where over 8 million shoppers per year pass through! In addition to this great public-private partnership, First 5 Solano has also developed relationships with service providers in their community, including a local food bank that is distributing text4baby referral cards in English and Spanish to more than 1,000 clients. Through an energized network of interns, they have distributed text4baby posters to Family Resource Centers, Health clinics, libraries, WIC offices and pediatricians' offices in the county.

7/20/2010- Baby’s Bounty

On Tuesday, July 6th, text4baby Outreach Partner Baby's Bounty, an organization that provides baby clothes and infant supplies to families in need in Las Vegas, was visited by Nevada Congresswoman Dina Titus. Congresswoman Titus spoke to community members about the text4baby program and the reminders pregnant women and new moms receive through the service. Segments of this video appeared on the local ABC evening news and Univision. Also check out the Congresswoman's tweet about text4baby! Many thanks to both Baby's Bounty and Congresswoman Titus for their support of text4baby!

4/27/2010 Maternity Care Coalition

Philadelphia, PA partner Maternity Care Coalition has worked with a number of local and state partners to host a press conference and kick-off for the Philadelphia Text4baby Partnership on Wednesday, May 5th at the Please Touch Museum in downtown Philadelphia. Philadelphia Health Commissioner Donald F. Schwarz will be speaking at the event, held from 2:00-2:30 pm, along with the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition and local media partner Clear Channel Communications. Text4baby users will be sharing testimonials about the program and its benefits.

4/27/2010- Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Palm Beach County

Outreach Partners are busy this spring! On Saturday May 1st, the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Palm Beach County, Florida will be hosting a text4baby kick-off event in partnership with the local Wal-Mart. Participants will receive a bilingual text4baby flyer in shopping bags, a local radio station will be on-site and a number of local restaurants will offer free refreshments. A raffle will be held with gifts for new moms and babies. If you're in the area, check out this fun activity!

4/6/2010- Mobile County Health Department

Mobile County Health Department in Mobile, AL has been busy promoting text4baby! They have spread the word to staff in their health department, their Board of Health, Healthy Start program, and the Junior League of Mobile (one of the largest in the nation). They also promoted text4baby at their 2nd Annual Fetal and Infant Mortality Review conference recently, reaching 120 attendees. In addition, they distributed a press release and were featured in a print news story. The local Fox News station did a recent interview and will air the piece on April 12.

3/23/2010- San Diego Coalition (Alliance Healthcare Foundation and the San Diego Medical Society Foundation)

The Alliance Healthcare Foundation and the San Diego Medical Society Foundation have co-founded a strong implementation team in San Diego County, composed of more than 60 partner organizations who are promoting text4baby in their area. The group attracted press coverage in the North County Times for their recent planning meeting. Representatives from the coalition will be speaking at the California WIC Association conference in May.
